About GHRP-2 Acetate
GHRP-2 (Pralmorelin) is a synthetic hexapeptide GHS-R1a agonist — among the first-generation GHRPs, it delivers the strongest GH release per unit dose. That potency is the reason it became the standard positive control in GH release assays. CAS: 158861-67-7. MW 817.9 Da. Decades of published data across multiple species and administration routes. Potency vs. Selectivity
GHRP-2 produces larger GH pulses than ipamorelin, but with less receptor selectivity. At the pituitary, it activates both GHS-R1a (GH release) and ACTH pathways, elevating cortisol. Prolactin rises mildly at higher doses. These off-target hormonal effects are the reason ipamorelin displaced GHRP-2 in protocols where clean GH release without cortisol confounding is required.
The off-targets are not always a problem. If the research question involves GHS-R pharmacology across pituitary cell types, ACTH axis cross-talk, or full characterization of ghrelin receptor signaling, those effects are part of the data. GHRP-2 is more useful than ipamorelin for those questions precisely because it is less selective. Comparison with GHRP-6 is also worth noting: GHRP-2 gives more GH per unit dose; GHRP-6 produces stronger appetite stimulation through hypothalamic GHS-R activation.
