When This Product May Not Suit Your Research
- ⚠If your research requires a compound with Phase III clinical trial data — Epitalon's evidence base is primarily preclinical and early-phase.
- ⚠If your study design needs rapid-onset activity — Epitalon's proposed telomerase effects develop over extended treatment periods.
- ⚠If your lab requires a compound with well-characterized pharmacokinetics — Epitalon's PK profile is not fully established.
Published laboratory reports are available for selected lots. Check each report for its result and stated method. For research purposes only.

About Epitalon
About Epitalon
Epitalon (CAS 307297-39-8), also known as Epithalon, is a synthetic tetrapeptide with the sequence Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly (AEDG). It was synthesized based on the amino acid composition of epithalamin, a polypeptide extract derived from the bovine pineal gland. Over 25 years of published research have characterized its telomere-related, neuroendocrine, and antioxidant properties in both in vitro and in vivo models.
Mechanism of Action
Epitalon has been shown to reactivate the catalytic subunit of telomerase (hTERT) in telomerase-negative human somatic cells, leading to measurable telomere elongation. Research demonstrates dose-dependent telomere length extension through both telomerase upregulation and alternative lengthening of telomeres pathways. Additionally, epitalon modulates pineal gland function by upregulating melatonin biosynthesis enzymes, restoring circadian melatonin rhythms that decline with age.
Published Research
- Telomerase induction: Epitalon reactivated telomerase gene expression and enzymatic activity in human fetal fibroblast cultures, inducing telomere elongation in cells that normally lack telomerase. (DOI)
- Neuroendocrine restoration: Administration to aged rhesus monkeys restored nighttime melatonin levels, reduced basal glucose and insulin. (DOI)
- Comprehensive bioactivity: A systematic review confirmed significant telomere-related and neuroendocrine effects originating from antioxidant, neurotrophic, and antimutagenic activity. (DOI)
