About Epitalon
About Epitalon
Epitalon (CAS 307297-39-8), also known as Epithalon, is a synthetic tetrapeptide with the sequence Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly (AEDG). It was synthesized based on the amino acid composition of epithalamin, a polypeptide extract derived from the bovine pineal gland. Over 25 years of published research have characterized its NAD+ and sirtuin-pathway activity in cited studies-related, neuroendocrine, and antioxidant properties in both in vitro and in vivo models.
Mechanism of Action
Epitalon has been shown to reactivate the catalytic subunit of telomerase (hTERT) in telomerase-negative human somatic cells, leading to measurable telomere elongation. Research demonstrates dose-dependent telomere length extension through both telomerase upregulation and alternative lengthening of telomeres pathways. Additionally, epitalon modulates pineal gland function by upregulating melatonin biosynthesis enzymes, restoring circadian melatonin rhythms that decline with age.
