Important Notice

This product is intended for laboratory and research use only. Not for human or veterinary use. By purchasing, you confirm this product will be used exclusively for in-vitro research purposes.

Reconstitution Required

This peptide ships lyophilized (dry powder) and requires bacteriostatic water to reconstitute before use. BAC water is sold separately.

Recommended: PBS · stable for 21 days at 2-8°C once mixed.

When This Product May Not Suit Your Research

  • If your research requires a non-metallopeptide — GHK-Cu contains a copper(II) ion integral to its structure.
  • If your assay is sensitive to metal interference — the copper ion may interfere with certain spectrophotometric methods.
  • If you need a peptide with extensive human clinical trial data — GHK-Cu's clinical evidence is primarily from topical applications.

About GHK-Cu

About GHK-Cu

GHK-Cu (CAS 49557-75-7) is a tripeptide-copper complex first isolated from human plasma by Dr. Loren Pickart in 1973. Endogenous plasma concentrations decline from approximately 200 ng/mL at age 20 to 80 ng/mL by age 60, a reduction that correlates with diminished tissue remodeling capacity. This naturally occurring peptide has become one of the most studied compounds in regenerative biology and gene expression research.

Mechanism of Action

GHK-Cu functions as a biological signaling molecule that binds copper(II) ions with high affinity, facilitating copper delivery to enzymatic processes essential for tissue maintenance. The peptide activates TGF-beta and VEGF signaling pathways, stimulating fibroblast proliferation, collagen I/III synthesis, and glycosaminoglycan production. Gene expression studies using the Connectivity Map database have identified GHK as a modulator of over 4,000 human genes.

Published Research

  • Gene expression modulation: Connectivity Map analysis identified GHK as capable of resetting the expression of 4,048 genes toward a profile associated with healthy tissue maintenance. (DOI)
  • Tissue biology and collagen synthesis: Research demonstrated that GHK-Cu promoted tissue remodeling and increased collagen synthesis, antioxidant enzyme levels, and blood vessel formation. (DOI)
  • Tissue remodeling: A comprehensive review detailed how GHK-Cu promotes extracellular matrix remodeling by stimulating synthesis of collagen, decorin, elastin, and glycosaminoglycans. (DOI)
