What Is SS-31 (Elamipretide)?
SS-31, also known as Elamipretide or Bendavia, is a mitochondria-targeting tetrapeptide (D-Arg-Dmt-Lys-Phe-NH2) that selectively concentrates in the inner mitochondrial membrane. It binds to cardiolipin, a phospholipid critical for electron transport chain function, and has been extensively studied for its ability to improve mitochondrial bioenergetics.
