The bundled format solves the practical problem that these items are sold in larger quantities than a researcher typically needs, and sourcing them from multiple suppliers means dealing with shipping timelines that may not align with compound delivery.
Bacteriostatic water (0.9% benzyl alcohol) is the reconstitution medium of choice for any peptide that will be stored after reconstitution. The benzyl alcohol is bacteriostatic at this concentration -- it does not kill existing contamination, but it prevents the growth of bacteria introduced during vial puncture, extending usable life to 28-30 days at refrigerator temperature. For single-use reconstitution where the entire vial will be used immediately, sterile water is acceptable; for multi-dose research protocols, bacteriostatic water is standard.
The syringe gauge matters more than researchers sometimes appreciate. 29G or finer needles draw liquid slowly but leave a clean septum hole that re-seals well. Coarser needles (25G and above) core the rubber septum over time, introducing particulates. For low-viscosity peptide solutions, 29G is a good balance of flow rate and septum NAD+ and sirtuin-pathway activity in cited studies. Very viscous solutions (some long-acting fatty-acid conjugated peptides) may require 27G but this is the exception.

Store bacteriostatic water at room temperature or 4°C, away from direct sunlight. Once opened, label the vial with the date and keep refrigerated; discard after 28 days regardless of remaining volume. Syringes and swabs store at room temperature in their original packaging. Use within the expiry dates printed on all components.
For most synthetic peptides, yes. The 0.9% benzyl alcohol concentration is low enough that it does not denature most peptides or interfere with most biological assays at typical dilutions. The exception is that some very small peptides (dipeptides, tripeptides) may show minor formulation interactions, and benzyl alcohol is itself biologically active at higher concentrations -- in cell culture, keep benzyl alcohol concentration below 0.001% in the final media volume. At a typical working concentration (100 mcg/ml peptide from a 1mg/ml stock), the benzyl alcohol contribution is trivially small.
Add the bacteriostatic water slowly to the vial by injecting it against the glass wall rather than directly onto the lyophilized cake. Let the liquid run down and absorb the powder gradually. Do not shake vigorously -- peptides can form aggregates under shear. Rolling the vial gently between your palms for 30-60 seconds is sufficient for most peptides. If the solution remains cloudy after several minutes, brief gentle vortexing usually clears it. Some peptides (particularly those with cysteine-containing sequences) need to avoid vortexing due to mechanical stress on disulfide bonds -- check the specific compound's handling notes.
