About MOTS-c
What Is MOTS-c?
MOTS-c is a mitochondria-derived peptide — a 16-amino acid signaling molecule encoded within the mitochondrial genome. Discovered in 2015 by Dr. Changhan David Lee at USC, it represents a breakthrough in understanding how mitochondria communicate with the rest of the cell. MOTS-c is sometimes called the "exercise mimetic peptide" because it activates pathways similar to physical exercise.
